Bruce and Matt won doubles by one stroke over Iain and Steve last night with a -14. Newcomer David hit an ace on hole 8, good for the $38 acepot.
There was cougar spotted on the course a few days ago. If you are playing alone, make lots of noise and keep your eyes peeled. Please let us know about any other cougar sightings.
The Par None after party has been moved to the Elephant and Castle. Nesters Liquor store is donating a keg, and there will be a $5 menu. Come out after the tournament for prizes and fun!
No doubles tonight, as most of us will be watching the Canucks go to the Stanley Cup Finals.
We had a great time with Aaron and Nicole from Shaw TV filming a segment about disc golf in Whistler for “The Express”. We’ll post the segment when it goes up on YouTube. Here’s a few photos in the meantime:
We played our second week of doubles last night. Bruce and Jordan won in a playoff over Craig and Jon, with both teams shooting a -13. The acepot was won on hole 2 in the first week by newcomer Phil. No aces last night, so the pot is at $18.
The 3rd Annual Par None Whistler locals tourney is set for June 25. Andy and the staff at Katmandu are working hard finding sponsors and getting some great prizes in order. There will be posters up soon with all the details.
The club has a line on some rubber mats that we are going to try out as teepads. We hope to have a few installed in the next few weeks to test them out.
The calendar has been updated to include the BC tournaments coming up this year.
The course is finally clear and it’s time to start doubles for another season. We’ll be starting on Tuesday at 5:30 from the 1st hole. Cost is $5 for the year for insurance, $2 for doubles, and $2 for the acepot.
Planning has started on the 3rd Annual Par None Disc Golf Tournament put on by Katmandu and the Whistler Disc Golf Club. The confirmed date is Saturday, June 25th. Stay tuned for more details soon…
Due to too much snow on the course, the Duck Golf Finals will be moved to Vancouver, most likely the Jericho course. Stay tuned for confirmation.
The snow situation also means that we are delaying club play until it melts enough to play safely.
On a sad note, the Whistler Disc Golf Club would like to extend our condolences to the family of Randy White, who passed away last week. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held on Saturday in Coquitlam.
Abbie’s Open is happening this Saturday (Apr.16) at the Queen Elizabeth course in Vancouver. You can check www.bcdiscgolf.com for details.
Whistler will be hosting the Duck Golf Winter series finals on May 7. Check the website in the next few weeks for details.
There is still a lot of snow on the course, but the weather forecast is for rain which will hopefully wash it away quickly. Check for course photo updates in the next few days.
